Fatima obtained her Master of Fine Arts at the VCA in 2002 and exhibited Weaving my way to freedom at Span Galleries in the same year. Her present work is related to her cultural heritage background. Fatima’s Timorese identity re-emerges in her art from memories and traditions. Her works are abstract representations of symbols, shapes, designs and traditional colours in Timorese textiles. Fatima expressed special interest in sharing her skills through projects that involve, in particular, Timorese women.
