Sammeln & Verlieren (Collecting & Loosing) which was performed on the evening of the opening by Ralf Schmitt and myself, is referring to the individual working methods throughout the kommuting time.

While Ralf intended not to maintain traces or objects of his communication, I collected those traces and catalogued them for future use. Our meeting in Berlin for the exhibition, a privilege that was taken full advantage of, formed the base for work which incorporated both methods of working and as a result a melting of the two. Hence the Doppelganger appearance of Ralf and myself, being dressed similarly and Ralf pretending throughout the evening to be me.

The walking stick in Germany traditionally not only 'collects' kilometers in distance but here collects small pins attached to it which were a souvenir from all location visited. To cut up this walking stick, place the parts in different boxes and then sent it off to various addresses, randomly chosen, opens up new unknown participants in the kommuting.

Some of the new participants may never respond. A connection has been lost while others can be found.

"Travel Kit from Ralf to Claudia 1/8 - 8/8 A part of the walking stick for each artist in Melbourne. Everyone takes part in the collective concept of traveling. The image remains, preserved in the jar with water. Individual impressions of the same route of travel remain according to each person's given component. We all take part in the journey."
