Fusion forum Rapproachment - Working Conditions depot Breite Gasse, 1070 Vienna Saturday February 23 and Sunday February 24, 2002 Rapproachment - Working Conditions provided a platform for the participating artists to discuss and position their working practice within a framework of global transfer, exchange and fusion. The opportunity was open to the Vienna public to extend their knowledge of the art production of places like Australia, South East Asia and Eastern Europe through presentations of artistic practice and working conditions. The perceived isolation of Australia and Eastern Europe's isolation before the Fall of the Iron Curtain provided a rich base for discussion on global identity and communication transfer. |

what extent is an exchange between one culture to another possible? What cultural exchange takes place between artists and the existing art institutions? Tools of communication have already existed for some time, yet does a quantitative difference direct the speed by which an exchange is provided? Does identity influence the flow of transfer? What is the potential nature of a new global cultural identity? Individual presentations, artist fusions, performance, food and wine created the basis for dialogue around these and other issues arising out of Global Fusion, Vienna 2002. |
