Black Elvis Sings
He sits in the middle of the road
He is hot jacket off
Picked up and carried to the side to watch
Put down again
Arms wave
Shake a leg... and off
All fours scatter a rapid escape.
People walk past bags and carts.
Picked up carried back to the line.
The grown ups talk as black Elvis sings.
"yeah yeah" one clap.
She "never really liked Elvis"
And yet..
"I can't help falling in..."

Kinda in the middle
When you get to the road right before the meat
Right there."
"ah shit."

Train Men
Hunched crossed arms
briefcase stands between feet
polished shoes worn dull.
Paper held to cover face
yellow checked tie emerges
page turns.
Thick rimmed glasses black
eyes fierce intent unmoving
arms crossed.
Checked shirt
cords to the ground
bag between feet.
"Stand clear train now departing."
