Arrangements, patterns, movement
Noise surrounds
Theory of chaos
Is present
Mountains of mandarins
Stacked chili's, capsicums.
Quiet moment within
Observe
The colours of the fruit
Their texture in a mass and
Their varying individual characteristics
Each person amongst the crowd
Searching for the right fruit, veggies, meat
Best price, size, quality.
'How much?' - 'Take it, packing up soon'
Pocketing my pepper
Inspiration is found -
What about you?

Bourke St Mall
People ride and look,
"Is this Spring Street?"
the low humming of peoples conversations
different languages all blended into one with
ornamented with the noise of the old tram,
starting and stopping
the heavy door sliding
just relax - move with the tram
as it clumsily turns,
or otherwise,
you'll be thrown from the experience.
seat switching,
It's almost a competition.
the best seat
facing for the best view
maps and guides for tourists, sightseers, visitors
now they can find their places
this tram only travels a set path though
and it's so easy to get lost
now we're in the end of the city
where all the oversized
official buildings are
customs house with its big
vast entrance, grey and black.
the courts - although modern and colourful
still cannot escape the officialdom
and all the people
who walk in and come away
with changed lives
and others who act as
a pure catalyst.
the lines on the man's face
he sits along side me
where is he from?
decades of experiences
molded into the semi spheres
under his eyes.
I peer at his map and his groceries
now he's here, where is he going?
should I look closer?
but I'm scared to see
the remnants of war and repressive regimes
as he gets up - I want to get up too
although timid, I am intrigued
but I remain seated, being carried along
and I wonder where the tram is taking me.
