When Will We Get There...?
A collaborative installation by Roland Smith, Drew Collett, Zara Collins, Penny Gebhardt, Maylei Hunt and Nelia Justo
Yarra Sculpture Gallery April 18- May 5 2001
{Penny Gebhardt}
"When will we get there...?" is a collaborative installation drawing on the familiar iconography of the Holden, as a vehicle to bring together the efforts of a group of young artists from Sydney and Melbourne.

Roland Smith, 'Shower' 1998, Video projection, etched mirror
The Holden embodies an ongoing sense of travel in a literal and metaphoric way and it is from the back seat of one that the artists set out on this expedition. The EH Holden station wagon acts as a catalyst within the space in conjunction with video, slides, audio, photography, sculpture, painting and print media to examine our personal and collective travels.
Through interaction and dialogue the collaborative work emerges, imbued by the process and experiences within the group. In conjunction with the Holden installation, the artists will be presenting their own work around the rhetorical question "When will we get there...?".
