Dr Tsolakis has joined ARRB Transport Research in February 1997. Prior
to that, he was a Project Leader with the Bureau of Transport and Communications
Economics (BTCE) - the research arm of the Australian Department of Transport.
He holds a MAgSc (Ag Econ) from La Trobe University, Melbourne (1979) and
a Ph.D. (Ag. and Res Econ.) from the University of California, Berkeley
(1993). He has led and supervised research projects in four key government
policy areas: the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics
(ABARE), the BTCE, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the
Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C). In addition, he
was involved with the private sector during a 1995 work placement with
the Corporate Strategy and Planning Division of CRA Limited. Dr Tsolakis
has over 20 years of experience in economic research and evaluation and
has published many papers and written several industry reports on his investigations
of cases of cost-benefit evaluations of road and rail transport, market
(demand and supply) analyses, assessments of impacts of trade policies
and commodity outlook and forecasting.
