The George and Dragon

The George and Dragon, Journal for the Parish of Saint George, Wolville, Nova Scotia, in the Dominion of Canada produces a quarterly journal entitled "The George and Dragon". It's thirty-two pages contain articles celebrating Christianity in the areas of art, music, theology, history, literature, Bible study et al. The journal is decidedly Anglican in perspective and content with a regular column abstracting English Divines, another on the Book of Common Prayer, yet another focusing on the spiritual nature of the church, building and a current series on the Thirty-nine Articles.
There are regular columns on prayer, book reviews, as well as a children's page, reflections on C.S. Lewis' Screwtape theme to our present circumstances and more. The journal is illustrated by drawings done exclusively for each article. Samples of current articles are to be posted on our ACCC website. The journal is produced by members of our parish through our own computer based publishing company which we call Dragonslayer Publishing. It is printed by a small local print shop .

The children of the parish assemble the journals which are then sent to be stapled and prepared for posting by the editor. As there are great distances involved, most of the editing and proof reading is done by fax. At times, when the weather doesn't co-operate, the assembled journals must be sent to the vicarage for stapling and posting by bus. The journal is free without subscription charges. We manage financially through kind donations of support and the sales from our parish wall calendar.
Our purpose is to bear Faithful witness to the Gospel through an Anglican perspective; from Keble to Simeon; and to help develop personal links around the TAC among isolated parishes and individuals. To this end we enjoy hearing from our fellows around the communion. We are a small parish with a need to communicate and a desire to celebrate with our fellow continuers the blessed hope in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and to witness the same to a needy world.
