St. Stephen's College choir led the singing for the Annunciation
Mass at Brisbane.
Lady Day at Cathedral
by Nanette Kinmont
ACCA's Pro-Cathedral of the Resurrection at Brisbane Lady Day service
was an uplifting experience for all who attended. The statue of the Blessed
Virgin Mary and shrine was surrounded by pink and white flowers and the
smiling faces of the members of Saint Stephen's College choir greeted each
person on their arrival. Once again, their voices added to the atmosphere
of the day with their beautiful choral pieces led by Mrs Christine Cochrane.
It was also a delight to have Bishop Haley present to give the sermon.
After mentioning the five festivals listed in the Prayer Book relating
to the Blessed Virgin Mary, he gave us all a wonderful insight into the
life our Blessed Lady would have had, from her early childhood, through
the birth of Jesus, to the agony of seeing her Son die on the Cross.
After the service,
a lovely lunch was enjoyed by all in the parish hall, with members of Saint
Stephen's College choir and the older people of the congregation happily
involved in conversation with each other. It is hoped that the blessed
event will once again be well attended next year.
