Brigade Vehicles

The Brigades first Tanker was an "ex Army" 1939 Ford tray Truck, registration JM-956, which was converted for use by the Brigade. In 1960 the CFA supplied the Brigade with a Austin Tanker, registration HFU-293, with the old Ford going to Wareek Rural Fire Brigade.  In 1983 the Austin was replaced with a International 1710 ACCO 3.2 Tanker which served the Brigade until 1984 when that Tanker was replaced with a 4 wheel drive International 610A ACCO 3.4 Tanker which is still in service with the Brigade.

In 1983 after the "Ash Wednesday" fires the brigade found there was a need for a second appliance in the Brigade, and a Nissan Cabstar twin cab ute
was purchased by the Brigade, with the assistance of the Neerim District Lions Club.  The vehicles cost was subsidised by the Nissan Motor Company and was purchased for $5,600.00 the vehicle was fitted with a 600 litre water tank, a pump and other firefighting equipment.  This vehicle spent its first few years housed at Trevor Parker Motors until the new Station was built, and went on to serve the Brigade for ten years until 1993.

The Nissan was replaced with a Toyota twin cab HiLux ute
. The pump from the Nissan was fitted to the Toyota, without the water tank.  As it had also been found in the past that the Nissan had been used mainly for pumping from the water main, or from a dam or river, which didn't require the use of the water tank.

This Toyota was replaced by the Brigade in late 1996 with a 4X4 twin cab ute
.  That vehicle was again updated with a new 4X4 in 1999.
