The following is a part of the accommodation section for Port Stephens (which forms part of the Hunter Valley region), about 200kms north of Sydney. Note the diagrams reproduce better in the guide.
Westbury's Marina Resort (4981 4400, 1800 659 949), 33 Magnus St, 3.5star, $104, has two accessible rooms. Large car park, no dedicated spaces, flat entry to small reception area and corridor to rooms.
Room: Door 80cm, lever handle 1m, internal corridor 1.3m, large room with good circulation space 68cm between single and Queen bed h50cm, 2.3m at side and 1.7m at foot. Phone, lights, TV (remote) operable from bed, desk h75/61cm, sliding door to deck and great view across marina. Air cond, reachable height.
Bathroom: Lever handle 1m, wheel-in shower area - 10cm graded tile border, small shwr seat 31*29cm h50cm. Hand held rose, lever taps 1.1m and gr h91cm. Toilet h45cm, c50cm, f65cm, gr 80cm. Basin h85/62cm, limited knee space, lever tap. Shaver sw 40cm above bench.
Other: Ketch's restaurant is on 4th floor, via lift for breakfast and dinner, with glorious views across the port to mountains beyond.
Croft Haven Bed & Breakfast, (4984 1799, crofthav@nelsonbay.com), 202 Salamander Way, Salamander Bay. One accessible room/ensuite. Parking on a flat area by the sliding door, short ramped (6.4%) entry.
Room: Sliding door 800mm, key latches door. Room measures 5.4*5.4m containing King sized bed or two singles, single bed, couch, hanging space and sink. Good circulation space. Lights, TV (remote) can be operated from bed. Reachable hanging space 1.4m.
Bathroom: Wheel-in shower cubicle with hand held rose, lever taps 1.1m. Toilet h50cm, c45cm, f80cm. Basin h80cm can get knees under, lever taps. Limited circulation space in shower cubicle, but ample sideways access to toilet.
Shoal Bay Holiday Park (4981 1427, 1800 600 200), $70-90, one two bedroom unit with self catering kitchen. Reception has awkward gutter ramp the paved graded area to flat entry. Parking by the unit on paved area with crossfall at 6%. Long timber ramp varies in grade between 5% & 8% to small flat area 1m*1m in front of door.
Room:Door 80cm, key latches door, round knob. Kitchen and meals area, knee space under sink h90cm, lever handle. Living area with sofa and tv (remote). Queen bed h55cm, 1.1m at side and 90cm at foot. Good hanging space, small TV with remote.
Bathroom:Wheel-in shower, hand held rose, grab rails 80cm, lever taps 1m. Toilet h44cm, c50cm, f82cm, grab rails 80cm. Basin h90cm can get knees under, lever taps. Fold down shower seat h50cm, 45*90cm.
Other: Games, function and TV rooms have graded entry from the parks roadways.
O'Carrolyn's (4982 2801), opening late 2000 with seven accessible cabins set amongst the bush.
Parking for two cars then short graded path to the verandah, level entry. Accessible kitchen, living area and Queen bedroom, 3.81m*3.2m. Accessible bathroom. Upstairs loft can sleep four. Bush setting with accessible paths to two lakes - koalas in the trees!
