Titanic , a Remarkable ship was famous because Titanic is one of the worst disaster in maritime history . It was called the unsinkable ship but ironically it was sunk down ocean ,and over 1,500 people died together with the ship . It was on Sunday , April 14 , 1912 , after 4 days travelling .

THE CAPTAIN

Captain Edward Smith aged 59 had served the White Star line company for 40 years . In 1911 , he had been appointed to command the new trans Atlantic liner Olympic later , he has been transferred to the Titanic . Captain Smith was proud to become the captain of Titanic .

THE SHIP

Titanic was a new huge ship . It is 46,328 tonnes weight and 882 it . long . her passenger quaters were more elaborately fitted out , more luxuriously furnished . More important , she had a double bottom and was sub divided by 15 transverse bulkheads . Her major was hight compartment was such that she should remain afoat even though she was floated . Indeed , the Titanic was Iabelled unsinkable in the public mindof her master

There were 1316 passengers and the crew of 891 , in all 2207 souls . The passengers were of many nationalites , though British and American perdominated . The formers were Mr Bruce Ismay , managing diretor of the white Star line , managing director of Harland and wolf . The third class passengers were mostly immigants from Ireland . The ship also carriedc freight and a priceless copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

On Apirl 10 ,1912 the Titanic began the voyage .It departed from Southhampton , then stopped at Cherboug . France and the next day Queenstown . Southern Ireland . The ship then headed for New York .
