In the Year 2050 I...

In the Year 2050, I jog three times a week, swim twice and hang-glide for pleasure. I own a Clean-All 3000 which vacuums and dusts my house, makes my bed, cleans the dishes and does the washing. I eat any vegetarian food I desire, prepared by a KitchenChef 3XY, from products grown overnight in my green room. I drive on the Air Road in my solar-powered Mercedes Flier, which can be easily programmed to find any address. I can fly from Sydney to Europe, Asia or North America in one hour, which I do most weekends. I recycle my personal waste and garbage for fuel. I listen to the rustles and cries of clones of once-endangered species in my garden. I visit my children, my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren, my great-great grandchildren and all my friends regularly; if I cannot see them in the flesh, I visit their virtual living rooms on my Step-Through Virtual Screen. I am venerated for my knowledge of all things.

I am the holder of history, the key to our past and our future. I have an annual Universal Medical Scan, which detects and corrects all flaws, all diseases, all viruses. In the Year 2050, I had several cancer formations removed with a single dose of Cancer-Gone. I read without glasses. I move without pain. I live in a large community where crime is not only unnecessary but impossible.

I can reach anyone in the world through my Tele-Comp television computer. I speak and read every language; my library of interchangeable intra-skull language chips is vast and constantly updated. I record my dreams at night, and watch them on-screen the next morning. I learn new skills every week by BrainChip, and can complete a doctor's degree in three hours. I have youthful skin, bones and blood, and boundless energy. I sing in the community choir; everything from psalms to rap, to long-ago traditional songs by The Beatles and George Gershwin. I can relate intimately to anyone of any age through a plug-in SympaticoChip, which promotes mutual empathy. I travel through time in speeding ships that former generations called UFOs, but I do not interfere with the course of history by making myself known. I have many long friendships, which grow stronger and more rewarding with time.

I enjoy spirituality through meditation and reflection. I share my household with four generations, each of whom understands the value of the others. I respect and protect my environment and all living things. I walk every day along grass roads which were once tarred before the Air Road was constructed. I have great-great-grandchildren who do not understand the concepts of war, hunger or pain. Addictions to alcohol, nicotine and narcotics are legendary evils of the past. I have not heard of child abuse in thirty years. I am happy. I am grateful that I am not old in the Year 2000, when old age was often a time of loneliness and ill health and the elderly were not respected or cared for by the community. I expect to live for twenty more years. In the Year 2050, I will be 112 years old.
