The Arthritis Foundation of Australia provides care, education and research for people with musculoskeletal disease. The Arthritis Foundation of Australia function within that role by pursuing the following objectives:

Promoting research into causes, control and cure of all forms of rheumatic disease
Supports education and training of doctors and allied health professionals
Enhance community awareness of the needs of those who suffer arthritis
Represents people with arthritis nationally and internationally
Serves as national secretariat of affiliated state and territory foundations
Assist affiliated foundations to promote self-management programs for people with arthritis

Plans for 1999 include the collaboration, with FECCA and SBS, on a national touring exhibition of older Australian artists.
