What You Can Do on the Launch of IYOP on 1 October 1998

IYOP will be launched on October 1, 1998 which marks the annual International Day of Older Persons. The objective of the day is to raise awareness of 1999 International Year theme within Australian communities.

Australian Coalition '99 Partners can play an important role during the lead up and on October 1st this year. You can alert other members of your organisation to the launch of IYOP in different ways including:

Adding a postscript at the bottom of each letter your organisation sends;

Sending a special email to your organisation's stakeholders on October 1;

Including information about the International Year in your organisation's newsletters.

Each AC'99 state and territory secretariat is planning an exciting program of activities on October 1. We encourage National Partner organisations wishing to participate in October 1 celebrations to contact their "local" state secretariat for further details. State and territory partner organisations will have already received information on how they can participate on the day.

The October 1st role of the National Secretariat will be one of communication and media liaison.
